5 Times Beyoncé Broke the Internet

Updated: Jul 10, 2020

Queen Bey makes headlines on the regular, breaking the internet for things we mortals couldn't even imagine!

With record-breaking sales in the world of music, both as a solo artist and as a member of Destiny's Child, she has become an icon for people across the world. In particular, for black men and women, embracing her roots and culture proudly time and again.

From her curves to her features, especially her hair, Beyonce has continued to own every aspect of herself and express her femininity in all its complexities through brilliant works like Lemonade and Homecoming.

Having worked with her as a celebrity hairstylist, I’ve had the privilege to bring some of Beyoncé’s most incredible, iconic moments, such as these:

1. Her first-ever pregnancy announcement

Who can forget the iconic moment at the 2011 MTV VMAs when Beyoncé announced that she was pregnant with Blue Ivy? In her stunning ensemble, she gave us the performance of a lifetime and then the news of a lifetime! She revealed her baby bump, giving fans a run for their money, as the announcement went viral across Twitter.

2. When she dropped Beyoncé

Just a couple of years later, in December 2013, at midnight, she threw every marketing technique out the window when she dropped her self-titled album, Beyoncé.

Queen Bey KNOWS how to make us weak in the knees, bringing forward some of the most iconic tracks of her career, including Drunk In Love and a heart-warming tribute titled Blue—no guesses on who that’s about!

3. All of Lemonade

Every second of this visual album was glorious.

Dropped similarly to her previous album, this work of art shook the earth up. With millions streaming it almost overnight, the album had us hooked from the first moment. Celebrating black womanhood, it gave us something to look forward to, a representation that was so crucial and so well deserved, exploring the joys, the pains, the struggles of being human. Truly a league of its own, Lemonade is etched in the cultural history as one of the greatest artistic works of all time.

4. Her pregnancy photos with the twins

Before Sir and Rumi made their grand entrance to the world, Beyoncé took her time cherishing and celebrating this difficult pregnancy. After Twitter, she took to Instagram to break records with this image, as it went on to become the most-liked photo of all time.

I also had the honor of styling her hair for part of this shoot. The rest of the photos from the shoot went on to break the internet once more, because of how stunning they are!

5. Vogue September 2018

This was a project I personally enjoyed, too, getting the chance to style some of her looks during the Vogue September 2018 shoot, with long time stylist Neal Farinah, giving her effortlessly goddess-like vibes. From the iconic head-dress to her messy braids, every look in the shoot was to die for, and the internet responded with enthusiasm too.

There’s no cultural icon quite as large or as powerful as Beyoncé, a woman who has worked her way up, creating art that celebrates her identity and history. We’re all happily a part of the Beyhive!
